The IWC Schaffhausen Portugeiser is, undeniably, an imposing wristwatch with many technical features and complications, yet is uncluttered and sophisticated.
First released in 1939, IWC Schaffhausen created the watch on request of two Portuguese gentlemen who wanted a wristwatch with the size of a pocket watch and the precision of a marine chronograph. It is one of IWC’s best-known collections and has paved the way for the continuing trend of oversized watches we see today.
The Portugeiser is defined by slim leaf-shaped hands, simple Arabic numerals and a railway-track-style chapter ring to make reading the time easier (a popular feature on pocket watches in the 1930s). Top models include a double chronograph and others incorporate a small seconds dial and minute counter.
A pre-owned IWC Schaffhausen Portugeiser is a lesson in simplicity and a tribute to an enduring style.
We take pride in the authenticity and quality of our pre-owned Portugieser timepieces. All watches undergo strict testing for timekeeping to verify their quality. Where available, our watches are referenced against manufacturer records and are evaluated by a fully qualified horologist to ensure they are authentic. Your pre-owned watch is supplied with an authentication card to mark the passing of these tests and come with a 1-year warranty.
