Pre-owned Panerai Luminor Watches

A pre-owned Panerai Luminor timepiece is a marine sports watch you'll want to own. It is instantly recognisable by its large round face, cushion-shaped case and a curved bridge to protect the crown and add an extra layer of protection to the movement within.

In the early 1950s Panerai’s Luminor watches were created for elite combat divers in the Italian Navy using steel cases for strength and durability in harsh marine conditions. The name came from the patented luminous material used on the dial. Originally, the Luminor was not available to the public but when released in the 1990s gained popularity. Some pre-owned Panerai Luminor watches have ‘Marina Militare’ in tribute to their heritage.

There are many models and versions within the collection to suit most tastes and requirements. The sportiest looks offer matt black cases and faces and a rubber band, while sleeker models with an all-metal face, bezel and bracelet are more appropriate for the office. With such a large variety of models, you’ll find cases in steel, titanium, ceramic, gold and platinum and bronze titanium and bands in distressed leather, metal or rubber.

Most models have quite simple faces and alternate large Arabic numerals and indices, highlighting that while the Panerai Luminor was built with ease of readability and robustness in mind, simple yet bold Italian styling has always been at its core.

Models to note include the Luminor Submersible, Panerai’s true diving watch with 300 metres (30 bar) water resistance and rotating diving bezel, perfect for recreational diving. Rare editions can be found that include complications such as a tourbillon, equation of time function (to show the difference between apparent and solar time) or moon phase. The particularly rare Luminor Daylight Slytech model, designed in conjunction with Luminor fan Sylvester Stallone, is particularly valuable.

A pre-owned Panerai Luminor will hold its value, particularly if the strap is kept in mint condition (swap it out for another of your choice for a new look) and the box and papers are available. Whether you’re a collector of military diving watches or have a passion for marine sports, this watch is a tidy investment.

We take pride in the authenticity and quality of our pre-owned items. All pre-owned Panerai Luminor watches undergo strict testing for timekeeping to ensure they meet our standards of quality. Where available, watches are checked against manufacturer records and are assessed for authenticity by a fully qualified horologist. All our items are supplied with an authentication card to mark the passing of these tests and come with a 1-year warranty.
